Product Swap!!

So happy for this product swap!!

MrsStanfordsClass
( Kuddos to Michelle for this fab button )

I love these product swaps!  It's such a great way to find a new blogging bud and try out one of their awesome products.  It's so nice to brag and showcase someone's hard work!

Thanks to the lovely Jessica for setting up another awesome swap!  I was paired with an awesome blogging bud Val from All Students Can Shine !

I lovedddd her Roll and Read Sight Words Bundle!

My little ones really loved it.  I know my girls love any center that has to do with coloring and this was just up their alley!

Because we were out of white paper in the copy room this week, I printed the copies out in pink paper...go figure!

My little ones see each center twice a week so I set up 2 different worksheets and dice for them.

Grrr I wish you could see what the worksheet looks like in white.

LoL

So here is what some of the die looks like white.

The way you play this is so easy and so much fun!

First: You have you student roll both die.
Next: Whatever color they land on is the color they must use to write.
Then:  They must sound out the sight word they rolled and write in down once using the color they rolled.
Last: The next player goes!

The student to finish all of their words, wins!

It gets more and more fun for the little ones when they choose words they have already filled out, so for them it gets "intense".

I just loved seeing them work together and read the words.

The good thing about this game it comes it Pre Primer and Primer so your higher level students can challenge themselves with the more difficult words.

Here's one what group's mats looked like when they were done.

When the group saw the center again during the week, I set up a different worksheet to keep it fresh!

My sweethearts had such a blast making this that I am going to make this the newest "Word Work Center".

It was so easy to explain!

For my more advanced students, I will give them the "Roll and Read" from the Primer set.   Here's a shot of what that recording sheet and dice look like.

The recording sheet...

So you can interchange each depending on your group of little ones. It's definitely a great to introduce or review sight words!

(Thanks to the amazing Michelle from The 3AM Teacher for the cute button)

I love doing this because I get to work with another blogger and share her great ideas!  So I was paired up with Sarah from Permanently Primary.  Check her page by clicking on the button below.

Permanently Primary

So first let me show you what I chose to review.
It's a bundle full of awesome printables for all the short vowels sounds.
Word Work Centers include (for EACH vowel):

-Shake Up (word search in a bottle!)
-Satisfy the Sentence (sentence completion)
-Mystery Word (unscramble)
-Line 'Em Up! (ABC Order)
-Build-a-Word (building words with letter tiles)
-Play It (phonics board game)
-Word Sort (sorting by pattern)
-Locate the Hunks (finding words with spelling pattern)
-Rainbow Words (repetitive writing practice)
-I Have, Who Has (word recognition game)
One word...
AMAZING!
It really did come in handy since we just went over the short a sound.  I could use the printables in this packet to use as center work.  This way I can make sure the kiddies master the short a sound.  It's also a bonus that the worksheets are super fun!
Let me show you some of the worksheets the kiddies worked on.  I had them work on our magic carpet for an added bonus.

Let me explain this cute activity.  It's called Word Sort.  The kids are given flash cards with words that either have the short a sound or do not.  The students are to work together and sort the words to figure out which word belongs in the correct list.
This is what it looked like when the little ones were done.

I think they did a great job.  They had a great job doing it too!
Another fun center was Line Em Up.  It's basically a fun ABC Order game.
I printed out the cards in blue to make it more interesting.

This is what it looks like before the kids got to work.

And what it looked like when it was all completed.

The kiddies really liked working on these worksheets.
My kiddos had to read the 1st worksheet on their own.  They were then asked to circle the words that have the short a sound.  I think they did a pretty great job.  I was pretty impressed!
The next worksheet was fun too.  Using different crayons they had to rewrite the short a words listed.  Of course girls completed they worksheets, hence the pink crayons! =)

This worksheet was probably the most challenging for them. (notice the cross outs) We did this one together. Boy did they love it.  They had to unscramble the short a words.  I think they liked it so much because some of the kids would offer non sense words and it made the class laugh!
Oh to be a kid again!
These kinds of printables were also available for the other short/long vowels.  This is just what you need to help your kiddies practice their vowels and have fun at the same time.  They can be used as center work or independent work.  I was even considering giving some of these printables for homework.  Whatever you use it for will definitely help your class master the short vowel sound.  If you haven't checked Sarah's page yet, click HERE to take you right there.
Did you love this product as much as I did?  Well Sarah and I thought it would be great to do a quick giveaway for your very own chance to win this awesome bundle!  Follow the Rafflecopter below to enter! This giveaway will end on Tuesday, so enter now.
 Good Luck!

Product Swap with an Awesome Blogger

Hey all!! I’m so excited it’s finally here….the PRODUCT SWAP!!  I feel like weve been talking about this forever and sheesh today is the day…im linking up with  Jess from Mrs. Standford's Class

MrsStanfordsClass

the purpose of this product swap is to let you guys know about other great bloggers you might not have stumbled across before...  I was partnered with Lisa from Learning is Something To Treasure ..

I had already been a follower and she really has some awesome ideas....  I was given the awesome opportunity to review one of her things… this was definitely hard to choose from as she seriously has really great products…. Anywho, I finally ended up choosing "Kids of Character"

I saw her pictures and her idea with it and it seemed soooo innocent and fun that I know my kiddies in 1st grade could relate to it….first it’s 85 pages of great character traits and different adjectives of what certain characteristics mean….. she shows pictures and explains it in her posters… take a looksie... i apologize..the flash on my phone was acting up

it also came with picture cards that matched.... i loved these because they got to explain the characteristic with pictures..look how cute ! It's so easy to understand because they are like "kid words"

I enjoyed this because I thought well this is great to do for once a week… I can take one poster discuss it with the students for 5-10 minutes…have them offer examples of what they think it means and then complete the worksheet that pertains to that particular characteristic… if your having a hard time understanding what I mean ( as most ppl often do) then take a look at the pictures and how easy it is to understand!!  The drawing and writing are mine ! lol

There is a worksheet for each characteristic that asks the following questions:
What Does (insert characteristic her) Mean?
Draw a picture describing the characteristic
How can you show this characteric to others?
its up to the student to complete this on their own… I love this idea also because I can add this is as an extra credit question on one of the kiddies tests…or use one of the words as a bonus word for their spelling assessment…it can be used in a variety of ways!!

If you want to know know about Lisa check out her Blog and her TpT Store!  It's been definitely so much fun doing this and i would love to do it again!! What a great way to meet some awesome bloggy gals!
